Former Patriots starting cornerback Asante Samuel was injured yesterday while practicing with his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The practice, which was held outdoors in wet conditions, left Samuel with a pulled hamstring. Although the Eagles are speculating that it is a minor injury, hamstring pulls have been known to keep cornerbacks out for an extended period of time (due to the frequency of quick changes of direction at the position).

Samuel left New England after being designated as the franchise player in 2007. He signed a 6-year, $57 million deal with Philadelphia in the offseason.

Could this be yet another ex-Patriots player who doesn’t live up to his large contract?
